9 inch by 9 inch (plain face colored material)
Fold fourths into a 4 1/2 inch by 4 1/2 inch square. Tell the child that the folded tip of the square is the top of the dolls face. Draw a face either with fabric paint markers or gel pens. Regular markers will bleed but gel pens do not. The face should be about the size of a quarter.
Put three cotton balls or a wad of cotton batting in the center of the doll body so that the drawn face looks right. Gather the material and tie with the string.

Roll the arm material and tie a knot on each end. Tie it around the doll body neck (over the string).

9 inch by 4 1/2 inch (calico material)
Fold the dress in half lengthwise and again crosswise. Cut a ½ inch triangle out of the folded corner. When it is opened a diamond hole will be in the middle. Slip this hole over the dolls head. Tie the waist with the dress tie.

12 inch by 4 1/2 inch (calico material)
Fold the cape under ½ inch. Lay it over the dolls head. Fold the back under. Tie the cape around the neck.
